We have recently been helping a gentleman who was separated from his hourly position at a large box retailer. With significant injury interfering with his ability to work, the lack of benefits hindered his ability to support his 14-year-old daughter, who served as an interpreter due to the language barrier. She is a very kind young person, working to best translate for her father as much as possible regarding the legal matters.
While the time needed for this effort has exceeded far beyond our initial expectations, and the matter objectively is characterized as not a good case monetarily, it feels rewarding to help this hard-working father in a situation where he has no one else to help him.
While time-consuming, not intentionally so by our client, it feels good to hear his “thank yous,” which ring so much more fully and meaningfully, given how important his modest demands to redress his situation are to him and his 14-year old’s shared world. We understand now he can buy an affordable used vehicle to get to his new job, begin to pay back loans from his relatives, buy essentials such as groceries, personal necessities, and school supplies for his daughter.
